Heading to … SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE

Today I will leave Delaware for my four-weeks apprenticeship at Saint Joseph’s University (in Philadelphia). I’m really happy with this choice and really excited to be part of their coaching staff for the next four weeks. I’ll do this trip together with my FECC friend Danny Jansson from Finland. We spent last three summers a FECC-week together somewhere in Europe. Danny played a couple of years ago one season for BKT Tongeren, now we are two of 6 worldwide lucky ones to follow this ICAB program. What a small world!

Saint Joseph’s University (www.sjuhawks.com) plays in the conference named “Atlantic 10”. Head Coach for the 19th consecutive season is legendary coach Phil Martelli (CV). Coach Martelli was named “2004 National (!) Coach of the Year” in the NCAA, made it 5 times to the NCAA tournament with the Hawks and is President of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. I’m really excited to meet him and to learn from him and his staff.

Oh yes, tonight we might be going to the NBA exhibition game between the Philadelphia 76’s and the Minesota Timberwolves. One of my favorite European players plays for the Wolves, Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio!
